What if? Agostina Colangelo

What if.....
Today people have the opportunity to choose. They can choose their religion. They can read books in the language they prefer and there are books about everything. There are books about the origin of life, the origin of technology, about Math, Geography, about whatever they want. People can think and express their thoughts and ideas. They can put in practice their ideas and maybe create new objects that are better for us and our future. People have the choice of listening to the music they like and dressing the way they want. But what would have happened if this rebirth of thoughts had never existed…

It´s initiation was when people started thinking about the origin of things. They were interested in why things were that way. So, people started investigating and they started thinking differently. From that moment onwards people thought what they wanted and not what the person who had the power in the country told them. They painted what they wanted, they choose the religion they wanted and they expressed their feelings. In shorter words, it was the rebirth of people´s thoughts.

Let´s think what would have happened if no one had been concerned in the origin of things or in why things were that way. Maybe people accepted things the way they were and they didn´t complain. People who were part of the working class that had to work eight hours or more to have money or to live in good conditions were busy working and they didn´t have time to think about it. And what would have happened if Renaissance wouldn´t have existed? In those times people couldn´t express their own views. They could have ideas but if those thoughts were against the thoughts of the ruler, they would be punished in some way.

My opinion is that if Renaissance had never existed almost everyone would be catholic and no one would know the origin and the evolution of things. We would all have learned Latin to communicate with the church and to understand the bible. Conclusion, our life would be completely different.
