What if? Agostina Colangelo

What if.....
Today people have the opportunity to choose. They can choose their religion. They can read books in the language they prefer and there are books about everything. There are books about the origin of life, the origin of technology, about Math, Geography, about whatever they want. People can think and express their thoughts and ideas. They can put in practice their ideas and maybe create new objects that are better for us and our future. People have the choice of listening to the music they like and dressing the way they want. But what would have happened if this rebirth of thoughts had never existed…

It´s initiation was when people started thinking about the origin of things. They were interested in why things were that way. So, people started investigating and they started thinking differently. From that moment onwards people thought what they wanted and not what the person who had the power in the country told them. They painted what they wanted, they choose the religion they wanted and they expressed their feelings. In shorter words, it was the rebirth of people´s thoughts.

Let´s think what would have happened if no one had been concerned in the origin of things or in why things were that way. Maybe people accepted things the way they were and they didn´t complain. People who were part of the working class that had to work eight hours or more to have money or to live in good conditions were busy working and they didn´t have time to think about it. And what would have happened if Renaissance wouldn´t have existed? In those times people couldn´t express their own views. They could have ideas but if those thoughts were against the thoughts of the ruler, they would be punished in some way.

My opinion is that if Renaissance had never existed almost everyone would be catholic and no one would know the origin and the evolution of things. We would all have learned Latin to communicate with the church and to understand the bible. Conclusion, our life would be completely different.

What if?.... by Agustín Cristofanelli

What would happen if Columbus hadn´t discovered America?

This topic is about one important event that happened in 1492 when Christopher Columbus was alive. These voyages had, therefore, an enormous impact in the historical development of the modern Western world. Columbus changed history, empires, vegetables, politics, navigation, religion and Spanish law. His objective was to sail west until he reached Asia, but Columbus didn’t think that he was going to discover the New World.

In those days Columbus wanted to get precious and expensive things like gold and pearls. However, he discovered America, but what would happen if Columbus hadn´t discovered America?. The consequences will be a lot, also they would be really important to history because it would change a lot of things. For example, Columbus reach to this land because of lucky and what would happen if he didn’t?

There have been many studies and researches until now about that question. The consequences that I know are that if the New World had not been there for Columbus to land on, then Columbus and his crew would have perished from starvation at sea. Another one could be that he never could have crossed the Ocean to China. That would be horrible for them; however, they survived and discovered a new land.

Fortunately the discovery of America helped a lot to the future. Also, if you consider the fact that many Europeans felt that there was nothing beyond Europe and that the world itself was flat. I would say that the discovery of a new world by Columbus had a huge impact until now. For me it opened up the world of trade and also it was the beginning of the Age of Exploration.

What if?...

I wonder why are we here today? What is destiny? Is it destiny the reason of

why we are here today? History is a series of events, which with a very little

change, no matter how silly it seems, can change everything. Some people call

it destiny and others call it fortune. Perhaps, a snake would have fallen on

Newton’s head or nothing and he wouldn’t have been recognized. However,

this could have happened to your dad or mom. But, why isn’t this our case?

As I said, some people call it destiny, because you don’t know at all what is

going to happen and I believe that we all have a mission in our lives.

Sometimes, we don’t know what it is or if we really have a mission. So, the

most important thing is to live each day as if it was the last one and to make

sure that we do something for ourselves.

Going back to history, in the World War I, there was a crisis and my

grandfather was without work and money. So, he left everything to come to

Argentina to find work. He worked very hard in the port, until he returned to

Italy to marry my grandmother. They were so in love, but he had to go back to

raise enough money to maintain his family. In addition, there was another

thing to worry about, my grandmother was pregnant and the World War II had

started. For 7 years, my grandmother took care of my aunt by herself, without

enough money for food. Thankfully, my grandfather saved enough money to

make my grandmother and my aunt travel to Argentina. Finally, after several

months travelling through the ocean, cold and uncomfortable, my

grandmother and my aunt arrived. They lived happily and had 3 other

children, my father and my aunts. But what would have happened if they have

never moved to Argentina?

If my grandparents hadn’t moved to Argentina, I wouldn’t be where I am

today. Probably, they would have died in the war and no one of my father’s

family and I wouldn’t be here. However, if they had survived, I would have

been Italian and spoken this language more fluently. Also, I would have had a

lot of friends and celebrated parties in big houses as most Italians do.

Fortunately this didn’t happen, because I wouldn’t be here where I am with

my best friends, my school and my life although it is sometimes very boring.

Perhaps, my life in Italy would have been much better than this one, but I

wouldn’t have met the most important person in my life, my mom. She is

funny, crazy, and beautiful and I have had some of the best moments of my

life with her. Besides, if my grandparents hadn’t moved to Argentina, they

would probably have died, and I wouldn’t exist, so I would have never known

what life is. So, I am very thankful for everything I have even though I am not

rich but I love my life just as it is with all these beautiful people in it.

All Saint`s School

For 10 years I used to go to “All Saint´s School”. Now I changed to a new  school. Moving from school gave me the opportunity of having a new group of Friends. At these school people are wonderful. Fortunately, I have many Friends like Antonella,Luana,Tatiana,Martina and Camila.

My old school used to have a big park, where we used to spend breaks. Some other times we studied there. It`s located at San Isidro. My favorite subject it`s history, unfortunately I am not that good in that subject, but I know I will improve a lot during this year. And are some subjects that I don`t like them at all, like math and literature.

I enjoy being with my Friends during break time, and spending time in class with them. I find it fun to work in groups, I used to work a lot in groups in my old school. Working in that way helps you knowing better you Friends and spenging a good time working.

School by Josefina Fernandez

School
For the last five years I have been a student at Norbridge school. My first day at school was in 3rd grade, now I am in second year and I sit with my best friends. They treat me very well and understand me every time.  My best friends always make me laugh even when I´m not in the mood.  When we work in groups my friends and I can hang out and get together. My other classmates are very kind too and I enjoy a lot being with them, but sometimes they are a bit noisy and it is more difficult to work in class.

The school is located in Del Viso, Pilar. Norbridge school is divided in to kindergarten, primary and secondary. It has a lot of interesting subjects like writing or environmental management. The teaching staff, the head masters and the preceptors are fantastic, and some teachers are very funny. They make us learn so much so that in the future we will be able to go to a good university.   When it is break time they let us go outside and enjoy the nature and the fresh air for some time, it is great to rest our minds, then, when the time is out we go back to the classrooms and get prepared for the next subject with another teacher.

The best subject is math. I find it very fun because I´m good at it. Last year I went to Math Olympiads and it was amazing. We had to solve many complex problems but some weren’t difficult for me. The subject I don´t enjoy too much is gym, because I´m not good at it. I´m doing my best to become better and get a better mark for the final period. In summary I`m glad to be in this bilingual school because I find English interesting and I love to learn more and more every time.

The school is located in Del Viso, Pilar. The school is divided in 3 buildings

kindergarten, primary school and secondary school. In the park there are

tables where you can sit and some games. The secondary school has six

grades. In the morning shift we have Language, History, Writing,

Environmental, Math, and Literature. In the afternoon shift we have

Geography, Math, Language, Music, Art and other subjects. We have four

preceptors. 2 in the afternoon and 2 in the morning. They are called Maxi, Sol,

Santi and Javi.

In the school there are many subjects. I find history more interesting than

writing. I enjoy art. Sometimes I hate Math because I don´t like it, or

sometimes it seems difficult. In general I think that school is very important

because you need to know basic things.

The school
For the last eight years I go to the same school. I love my class because I have friends. I can trust and tell them things. But real friends I only have a few. And one of them will change school. The only problem is that we are too much in my class and sometimes it becomes very difficult to be in there all day because in summer it is very hot and there is so much smell of sweat.

My school is very good for the reason of being bilingual. Is the first school that have own computers and technological whiteboards.  My school reforms every classroom in the holidays. The school change tables and now they are different. Now tables are of five or six persons. The only problem of secondary is that we have to go to class in the lunch break and we don´t enjoy it.

I´m agree in the thing of putting metegol and ping pong table. I love the thing of having own computers because we don´t have to go upstairs to a computer classroom. I also hate that teachers give us homework when we spend nine hours in school.

The school where I go to is called “Nobridge”. In the class where I am there are 30 students. I have been in this school since the kinder garden and now I am at second year of secondary. This year we are sitting at tables of six persons maximum in order to improve works in groups.

Norbridge is the newest school in the area as it is 25 years since it was created. Furthermore, it is immense because it is divided in three parts kinder garden, Primary and Secondary. Also there are a lot of subjects, like Maths, Language, etc. The teachers are very good in their job; almost everyone leaves this school knowing a lot of new things and an objective to reach.

This school has a lot of things that I enjoy. One of them is the break time, because I can rest of the new things that we learn. Also I find it fun the classes of Gym, Music and Tic than others, but my favorite subject is maths. I want to stay at this school for ever.
